Outreach
Serving Our Community
The Journey prioritizes being a proactive presence in and around the greater Springfield area and our world. Our work is not only financial in nature, but more importantly, being the hands and feet of Jesus to others. If you would be interested in being a part of our Outreach team, click here.
LOCAL
Monthly Mobile Market at The Journey – We work with the Capital Area Food Bank to host a monthly fresh food distribution on the second Saturday of the month from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. If you’re interested in serving at our next market, click here to sign up.
If you would like to receive food from the Market, show up at The Journey’s parking lot between 10am – 1pm. There is not registration or income requirements to receive the food. Arrive early for the best variety!
Love NOVA – We have created a non-profit to better provide food and financial assistance as well as social work guidance to our local community members. We hold quarterly large-scale community service events to minister to our neighbors in need.
Koinonia Community Services – We partner with our local food bank to donate school supplies, Thanksgiving meal baskets, and Christmas gifts every year.
Second Story at the Springfield Resource Center provides resources on a drop-in basis to families in need. Families can receive help filling out documents and learn about referrals to further connect with their community. This Center also distributes food and clothes to people in need, and we partner with them throughout the year to provide resources and volunteers to support their programs.
